Just over five months ago, I was sitting in building three on the RTP Cisco campus. I was on my 4th CCIE Route/Switch lab attempt today, passing 640-916 and achieving Cisco’s associate certification in data center. In my honest opinion, the tests were good.
640-911, I feel, was the tougher of the two, just because there were a few topics that were not on the blueprint, but they were not impossible to answer. If you have worked in a data center environment before, you should have no issue answering them. I also did not study for 640-911. I looked at the blueprint and felt very comfortable with all the topics, so I decided to schedule the test.
640-916 I was more worried about it, but I think I went uber crazy studying for it. If anyone takes anything away from this post, invest the 29.99 into Pluralsight’s membership. Chris Wahl has an uncanny ability to take complex topics and make them look easy. I should preface this: I don’t get to play with storage or UCS at my current employer, so I relied heavily on videos and playing with Cisco’s UCS emulator. I also used the data center videos on Cisco’s Learning Network site specifically for CCNA DC, filling in a few gaps.
Overall, this is a good exam series, and I look forward to what CCNP DC offers!
